You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I have just swapped some 2017 27.5 pikes on my PP Oka for a set of 2018 29er Pikes. I went out for a ride - and front braking was frankly rubbish.
I thought I had contaminated the pads - but on inspection, the pads were only using about 7 mm of the disc.
So that means that the brake adapter is wrong.
Now, I believe that in 2018 RS Pikes went to 180 mm "ready" calliper mounts. I am using 203 discs. The current 203 adapters are obviously too big - so my powers of deduction suggest that 180 adapters mounted on the 180 ready forks would work.
Or am I doing something fundamentally wrong?
Thanks
Yeah you need a 180mm rotor with no adapter or a 180-203 adapter because your current one is 160-203.
Think of the adaptors as +20mm and +40mm and you won't go wrong.
On a standard 160mm mount a +20mm adaptor takes you to 180mm
On a 180mm ready mount a +20m adaptor takes you to 200/203mm
180 mount is essentially a +20 mount, so 200 but your better with a dedicated 180->203.
Pikes didn't go to 180 until later than 2018 as far as I know though, more likely to be 2019/2020
Sorry, 180 from 2018 on after checking!
My 2018 revelation is 180 post mount, and I believe they use the same lowers as the pike.
thanks
