Sore hip pushing to hills

The last few times I've been to the bike park I've developed a sore right hip pushing back up the hill. I don't have any pain will riding, either at the bike park or to work. I don't get pain when jumping or casing the back wheel. (That happens a lot).

I also noticed the pain when out on a country walk so I'm not sure it's bike related. Does anyone else have this or any thoughts on where to start investigating? This morning I can barely walk

Does it hurt to run or jump and land on the bad leg?

Is it muscular or pain in the joint?

Anything happened recently to set it off?

That isn't good. Did you just keep pushing up all day despite the pain?

Could be sciatic nerve issues.

Do you always push the bike on the same side of your body?

Go and see a sports physio.

It could be about 500 different things.

No issues jumping - just tested this on the trampoline!

Always push the bike on the same side and probably did over-do it yesterday.

It doesn't feel like sciatica or nerve pain - I've had a trapped nerve previously for 6 months so know what's like. I've recently finished treatment for it. It feels more like a bone issue. I'll rest it til at least Sunday

Sounds like Trochanteric Bursitis to me.

First thing I’d do is rest it for a few weeks and see if it gets better. If it does and doesn’t come back when you start doing things then crack on.

If it doesn’t settle after a few weeks then either make a routine appointment to see your GP, or possibly first contact physiotherapist if they’re available.

Thanks @kramer that does seem to match up. Reading it through it seems hip pain can also be caused by tightness in lumber section of the back. I've definitely had that over the last few months. I'll do some further investigation and do a self referral for the physio.
