My gravel bike is a bit porky so I am thinking next year of changing the group set from the (very nice to use) Sora 3x9 with mechanical discs to a GRX 2x11 hydraulic set. As this is with the aim of saving a bit of weight (and gaining slightly better brakes) how much weight do you think I’d lose? I would go through each component (and probably will eventually) but anyone any rough idea of the saving?
A super quick Google suggests ~1126g Vs ~750g, more than I expected if I'm honest.
Other bits that might have good weight savings for cost include...
Tubes
Tyres
Fork
Seat post
Saddle
Pedals
Bars
Etc.
I got my Wazoo fatbike down to ~10.5Kg from ~16.5Kg, while effectively turning it into a tarmac commuting 29er hybrid, wheels/tubes/tyres alone saved ~5Kg for ~£180. 😆
I've not weighed any components on my July bought Marasa yet that weighs ~12.9Kg total, but I bet the Fatty carbon fork and Fatnotfat 29er front wheel could easily shed 1Kg+.
