Hi,

I thought it was interesting to see that Waltly make Sonder Ti bikes.

I assume they are a good outfit.

My Signal Ti arrived and the box indicated that Waltly had shipped it.

Cheers

Waltly make quite a few UK small batch production and 'custom' geo frames.....

Sadly, Waltly are no longer taking individual orders for bike frames - luckily I’ve got 2 and been really pleased with them

That's a real shame. I have three frames in my shed from Waltly, all full custom. They were great to deal with and the bikes are fantastic.

PX also use Waltly, my old man has one that came in a Waltly box. It's a beautifully made frame

So do we reckon that's who made this little stunner?

Interesting!

I was looking at two different 'custom' builders who I've since realised both use Waltly.

I have no problems with Waltly, or even the fact that companies charge extra to provide a warranty and act as a go-between with Waltly.

I can't help but notice the verbal gymnastics some people use rather than admit they're using a factory in China though, one 'prestige' brand in England would have you believe they were just two guys carrying on their father's frame-building shed business, until you learn to spot the phrase 'designed and assembled' where you would expect 'designed and built'...

Nordest too I believe.

They're essentially the go to Ti builder in Taiwan.

I spoke to them a few months ago and they were doing custom builds for previous customers but not for anybody they hadn't dealt with previously.

I’d argue being made by Waltly is something to be smug about rather than be at all surprised or concerned. I’ve had a few Ti frames over the years, US made stuff simply doesn’t compare with the best China or Taiwan have to offer, and arguably Waltly have the best rep in this regard too.

Expecting delivery of a new Titus Goldrush imminently… 👍🏻

Gets my goat that does. It's like 'Assembled in the UK' and 'from British Reynolds tubing' = frame sent to the UK to have parts assembled onto it, frame made in Asia from 525 which is CrMo made in Asia. Either be proud of who makes your frames for you or don't say anything about the manufacturing side of it. Don't kid your customers who won't do anything more than take what you say on face value.
(Sonder not guilty of this imo, just a general point that bugs me in bike brand marketing)

Not so sure about that. Waltly have a good rep, Lynskey had a patchy rep, but US made also includes Eriksen, Moots and Firefly. What Asia does very well in some cases is turn single-builder or small batch processes into mass production.

They’re essentially the go to Ti builder in Taiwan China.

Waltly are in China, Ora seem to be the go-to for Ti in Taiwan. fwiw etc.

Not that @jameso needs me to back him up but the Moots frames I've see close up are absolutely stunning in how well they are finished.

Was that around the time that Van Nicholas were doing them for PX/OO?

Been into the Alpkit store in Betws Y Coed this morning and rather smitten by the Signal Ti.

As MrsMC was with me I just bought a t-shirt

Stumbled onto this thread when searching for Goldrush references. I was going to buy a Sonder Camino, but lead times are still too long, I then came across the Titus Goldrush which is a similar price and looks ver similar in frame geometry. Does anyone have any experience of either?

@MoreCashThanDash

I'm 3 rides into my custom Signal TI build, it's insane
It's great.. its very comfortable and controlled, feels insanely smooth, possibly better the quicker you go..... highly recommended

I might be adding 2 + 2 and getting 5, but I wonder if this means my Titus Mutsu Ti was built by Waltly?

Bought late-2019 from Planet X, identical geometry to the Sonder Broken Road Ti with only minor changes to the dropouts. I've always thought it was too coincidental and they must originate from the same builder.
