Hi all

I recently got a bargain from eBay - Sonder juice boost dynamo hub.

However, the bearings appear to be dry and it has a very “index” feeling to it, it doesn’t spin smoothly at all.

The seller promptly refunded me and suggested I bin or repair it.

I know that these sort of hubs are hard/impossible to service and I can’t see a way of getting to the bearings.

Anyone any experience with these hubs at all? Or similar?

Ta

The "indexed" feel is there permanently with these hubs. It's the magnets. Once built up into a wheel it's not noticeable in use. It's the same as an Exposure Revo / Shutter Precision PD8.

Yep, as above, all dynamo hubs feel like they are knackered even when they are freah out the box!

Thanks, but is it stiff to the point where you can’t rotate the axle by hand?

I have it fixed in a vice and it is hard to rotate still.

Ouch.

It is possible to rebuild these hubs. Someone on the BearBones forum did so.

Thanks for the heads up, found the thread on bare bones and managed to open up the hub.

Bearings were not terrible, but the main issue was that all of the internals where completely rusted up. Obviously not very well sealed.
