Anyone in the Inverness or Highland area have an XL Ti (or Al) Camino I could have a little spin on?
Considering a Ti Camino as a special treat to myself, although no idea if I actually need it! Currently have an aluminium Giant Defy for road duties and hardtail and FS for off road (albeit pretty old by todays modern standards) so it would kind of sit in the middle. Would look to put the Defy to trainer/winter use and mountain bikes for rougher trails with camino for road and some bike packing with capability of rougher tracks. (Would i be looking at a second wheelset, change tyres or ride a set of tyres that do both?)
Was also musing the Ribble CRG Ti which I think is a little more road orientated (particularly given the slacker head angle of the latest Camino model). Having never ridden Ti I’m also only aware of the mystical properties from what I’ve read, is it really that good?
I’m 6’2” which is slap bang in the middle of large and extra-large frame. I threw my leg over a large in the shop Edinburgh which felt ok but wasn’t sure if it was almost too small as didn’t get to ride it. Also wouldn’t want to get the XL and it be a barge hence looking to try one.
Any thoughts/ recommendations/ comparisons would be appreciated?
Can pm me direct with any possibility of a trial ride.
Thanks.
Similar height and would suggest you definitely go XL. I have a Camino Al but being in the south west not close for you to try I’m afraid!
Try the Facebook sonder camino group
You’ll need to try latest model ti Camino as they are different (a longer and slacker) than the previous model
I’m 5ft10/11 and medium is bang on, great bike. friend has the sparkly black one too .
Loves it
I'm 6'2" with a long torso. Got my ti earlier this year. Xl is spot on for me.
6' regular proportions. Large Camino Ti. Perfect fit.
Inverness based and on a large Al v3 model. I’m 5’10 and originally had a M but felt too small (wheelbase if anything as toe overlap was a big issue) so sold and traded to L. Large feels spot on for me and Id speculate at your height XL would be the one. No idea about the new geometry and what difference that might make though.
i was concerned on toe overlap, the latest Ti model, resolved that issues. my size 9 foot is no where near the front wheel
From what i read i recon either will work with a little tweak of set up if required, just want to make sure I get it as spot on from the start if going with ti. I guess large may have better resale market should I ever wish to part with it.
