Thinking about a Sonder Camino soon for local riding where the MTB is too much. I'm around 5'8"/172cm which puts me right between a small and a medium. I have short legs, usually a 29" inside leg trouser. Anyone here a been between sizes like this and did you go for the bigger or smaller option? In the past on road bikes I've been pretty comfortable on 54cm frames though I ended up fitting a 90mm stem to my CAAD8. Currently have a 56cm Langster which I think is too long for me to be comfortable on the hoods/drops - I usually find myself holding it nearer the bend.
Unfortunately I'm not particularly close to any Alpkit locations to test ride one.
Other option would be a 2025 Boardman ADV 8.9 which I could more easily try out at a Halfords. But the Camino looks a bit nicer to me and for an extra £100 can be specced with GRX610 vs the 400 on the Boardman (not sure how much of a difference that really makes). The Sonder has slightly better tyre clearance afaik.
At 5'10" I was between medium and large. As I'm mainly off road with mine, I went with the medium after riding both up and down the road at one of their stores. A year later, I still think I chose the right size.
I'm 5'9" on a medium. It feels the right size to me.
Im 5’11 so right between the sizing for Large and Medium. I’m on a Medium and find it just right with a slightly longer stem than supplied. Since you’re between sizes and have shortish legs I’d consider the small unless you’re particularly flexible as you can always fit a longer stem but you can’t shorten a frame down.
I'm 5'7 and have ridden small and medium and preferred the small, medium felt a stretch with the stock stem at least
I'd say go smaller too. I'm 5'11" with long torso, short legs and went with a large in 2021.
Even with a short stem it is a reach a bit too far.
After a few longer rides and with hindsight, I bought the wrong frame !
5'8" and on a medium
I'm 5'9" on a medium. Wouldn't have wanted it any bigger, that is on the gen back that was more roadie than rad.
I'm between medium and large. Sized down due to stack height, the difference is only ~15mm stem length ~20mm stem height.
Could probbaly make either work but i prefer a lower front end. Very happy with it a couple of years later.
