Hi all. Considering a Sonder Camino but at 6,2 it looks like I'm on the border of large and XL so can any owner give me an idea how they size up?

I currently have a XL Ragley Trig which is great but feels quite low at the front and I have plenty of seat post showing. It does feel long however although that could be down to the bars I have that aren't the best fit. Looking at the geometry the large Camino is closest to the Trig but the XL has a longer head tube but I'm worried it might be a bit too big. I also had a Marin Four Corners in XL that was very comfy but maybe a bit big.......

Any owner input would be ace!

You getting the current version?

At 6'1 I got the large V3 which already feels pretty long and high front end compared to my road bike (ML Giant Defy from a few years ago). The current (V4?) Camino is slightly longer IIRC. However, for riding down anything offroad I like a high front end so I can be on the drops and still see without craning my neck too much. So even though the headtube is pretty long, I use extra stackers. Standover is absolutely fine, plenty of seatpost showing. On the road, the extra length feels OK but definitely feels different to the racy position on my road bike (captain obvious comment).

I don't know the other bikes you reference, but I suspect it'll come down to a preference thing. My Camino is already longer / slacker than a lot of gravel bikes and particularly road bikes, and the V4 is slightly more exaggerated in those aspects. I imagine you'd be fine on either, but the XL is likely to feel more barge-like and stable off-road with the large being more 'nimble'. It might come down to what you plan on doing with it.

Mostly road/touring/commuting: perhaps go L
Mostly offroad/bikepacking: XL?

Cheers mate. Yeah, it'll be the current one with either GRX or Rival, depending on the lead time for Shimano.

Usage will be a bit of everything but having sold my road bike the gravel is my most road focussed bike. The Ragley has 650b wheels and is defo nimble but I just think there are bikes available that'll fit me better, or at least be more suited to the riding I do. I'll be going back to 700c with the Camino.

I’m not an owner just yet, mine’s getting delivered next week, but I went Large and I’m 5’11 ish.

I had a quick spin on the v3 Large and it felt great, I hope the v4 that’s on its way also fits me well.

Can you get to a local shop for a demo?

reckon you'll be okay, I'm 5'10" and recently taken delivery of a medium.
a large may have been better but a little more layback on the saddle or a slightly longer stem (its crazy short) and I'll be okay.

Thanks both. Ended up heading over to the Ilkley Alpkit yesterday and had a chat with a helpful bloke in the shop. He said there's something like a 28 day return policy on frames so if you buy one and it's the wrong size they will swap it for free. Sounds like job done to me!
