We're a bunch of mates who are spread across the country and we meet up a few times a year for a weekend of sillyness and riding.
We usually go to N Wales and ride Stinig/CyB etc and have stayed in bunkhouses and camping barns in Dolgellau and Llanberis lots of times.
Due to tickets for Bob Mould in Manchester we're looking at meeting up to ride somewhere in the Peak District. Ideally a little town with some nice pubs and a bunkhouse within walking distance. Riding wise we're definitely more on the short, fun and techy side rather than 40k moorland slogs.
None of us, to our shame, have been to the Peak District...any suggestions where we could base ourselves please...and contacts for little bunkhouses much appreciated too.
Thanks
Pindale Bunkhouse is close to Hope which has a couple of pubs and probably the best riding in the dark Peak right out the door. Otherwise look for somewhere in Edale or Castleton. There’s a bunkhouse just outside Hathersage but there isn’t as much riding from there.
Oh and Hope has one of the best bike shops in the country (IMHO).
Yup the YHA in Edale or Castleton would suit. Either would give great riding from the door but both are a good walk from a pub but hey you all have bikes!
Best rest in the Peak is in dark peak, so you want to be looking somewhere in the hope valley. For a variety of pubs and riding from your door I’d probably look around Castleton. Hope would give easier access to the whole valet for riding from the door, but less good for the social side

some good routes round there. Hayfield, not far from Jacobs ladder, new mills, edale and easy to get to/from Manchester on the train too, you’d need a taxi to little mill in though. Marples got some nice pubs and restaurants too.
Ollerbrook Bunkhouse in Edale was another one I was thinking of, short walk to Edale village pubs.
Great suggestions folks, plenty to google when I’m ‘working’ tomorrow.
Thanks!
