Sure that won't do it any good...
What am I missing here??

[s]It's either a working link, or[/s] A basic understanding of punctuation.
[s]I'm going to say that it's both, however.[/s]

Is it the shock is upside down? But it's really the same orientation as a fork?
Some folks do that, to "reduce unsprung mass" - it makes no real difference
Never seen a shock mounted upside down like that.
I have a Superlight and certainly wouldn't have considered it myself.
It will make zero difference which way the shock is mounted.
Run my superlight shock that way round so I can get a bottle in (and more importantly) out of a bottle cage
I can't be arsed to check but sometimes putting the shock the other way around makes it easier to unscrew the air can. Otherwise what difference would it make?

Any reason, I'm genuinely interested...
I stand corrected, just would have thought that the shock is designed to be used in the 'usual' orientation. As mentioned earlier I've never seen a shock installed that way round. All bikes I've seen have the shock installed in what I would say is the normal manner.
Apart from the asthetics why don't manufacturers supply bikes with the shock intalled upside down?
Sometimes it helps if you reverse the polarity
supply bikes with the shock intalled upside down?
Because if you do that, your rebound damping becomes your compression damping and vice versa.
I might turn mine round just to confuse people.

Let's all do it and see how long it takes marketing departments to start speccing bikes for sale that way!
^^ lets hope no one takes me seriously! 😉
The debates could go for weeks!
Doesn't having it the other (normal) way up usually help keep the seals lubed?
Just like your forks?frood - Member

Yeah having air can up means (less) mud and crud can settle on the seals as gravity it pulling it away, but as that shock is horizontal (or near enough) it's going to make little difference.
That way round is more of a faff to reach the lever as you have to reach under your balls instead of in front of you 😉
