New Marin's seem to have all the 'attach stuff to the frame' options covered

frame with lots of bolts

frame with lots of bolts in it.

looks a bit pants but are they there so you can fit a custom frame bag (or an off the shelf one with a few holes drilled in it 😃) without using velcro? In which case it makes sense in a way and you wouldn't see the extra mounts anyway with the bag fitted.

I actually ended up adding some extra bottle mounts to my bikepacking steed as there weren't enough and the ones that were there weren't quite in the right place so I can see the logic!

I always take the dome head screws out of any unused bosses and replace them with grub screws and a little loctite. Much neater!

My fat bike has a frame bag fitted like that. It's a prototype Wildcat bag (I bought bike and bag from Ian Barrington of Wildcat), there's a couple of plastic plates in sleeves to allow the bolts to fit and spread the load. There's only the standard bosses on the downtube plus the removable cable guides on the underside of the top tube so that Marin looks a bit "odd".

Revelate Designs do a "bolt on" top tube bag so I presume that the two bosses behind the head tube are for that or similar.

Old news, but yeah it works for the target market

Which target market asks for needless holes in the sections of the tube with maximum stress? Perhaps the ‘lots of steel’ refers to the tube thickness they are using

Apart from triggering trypophobia, that Marin looks fab.

In fact they all do, theres not a R3ACT bike in sight there - have they quietly dropped them?

I use nylon ones, lighter and doesn't need loctite.

Anyone know if those bars, or ones like them can be bought?

I like 'em. Fond memories of a cross between Grifters and most '70s scrambler/dirt/trials bikes.

I’d wondered about direct mounted bags, but didn’t think it would need that many attachments! I guess it offers adjustment

ooo, that is interesting.

Their weird boost/not boost hub spacing has put me off before, but this does look compelling...

What a good idea, but I've got about 100 left of the stainless ones and my big bottle of loctite will probably be handed down through 3 generations at current usage rates. 🤣
