http://www.merlincycles.co.uk/Bike+Shop/Bikes/Mountain+Bikes/Turner+Bikes/Turner+Flux+Custom+Build+Bike_FLUX-BIKE.htm

95% of my riding is fast xc around the new forest. i will occasionally do the purbecks, lakes, maybe spain etc etc.

i have the option of a brand new trek fuel ex9 (2009 model though) for £1,100, so the Turner will involve more cash outlay, but is it worth it?

just trying to work out a build spec.

the bike comes with 2011 Reba RLT's which are 100mm... i want to run 105mm at the rear and 120mm up front... so was thinking of changing the Rebas for Revelation RLT's and adjusting the travel down to 120mm

thoughts?

the other question is whether it is worth +/-£150 to go from a set of DT Swiss X1900 wheels to Hope Pro Evo / Stans Evos...?

thoughts?

Think you should! Just about to press the button on a flux frame myself. Seem just right for me but just off to pick up a carbon epic from the shop for the weekend to make sure I don't like it too much!

If you do go the Rev way, I've got a pair of Rev team u-turn forks (Blackbox etc) you might like to consider - I'm wanting a pair of 100mm SIDs on mine. Done a grand total of 2 dry rides so not even ridden in yet. Even though a much better fork than the base rlt model they would be a bit cheaper (and you would be helping a fellow flux luster!). Also in Hampshire and email in profile.

The Reba might be able to be converted to 120mm by removing the internal spacer.

IMO I'd try it first with the 100mm forks. I thought I'd need more but actually it rides very well at 100mm. Only thing I'd consider is getting Rebas with Maxle. I've got Reba 90-120 U-Turn with Maxle on mine 8)

Nuke - where did you get a Reba u-turn with a maxle? They don't seem to exist on their site or anywhere else I looked.

Not off the shelf I'm afraid...I built them from 2 forks. Already had a set of Reba U-Turns so picked up a set of Reba with Maxle cheap off eBay (A few turn up thanks to them being speced on some Boardman/Whyte bikes...HERE is an example) and then swapped the lowers (literally a straight swap 15minute job: there is no difference between QR lowers and Maxle lowers).

I've kept the second pair for my Inbred but they could have been sold on to recoup some money. It sounds long winded but I've still paid less that the Reba U-turn RRP for both forks.

if i go for a 20mm axle, i will also need to change up the wheels from the DT Swiss X1900's... which then pushes the build cost up another notch...

I did say consider it and try the existing forks first. Maybe get the wheel upgrade now which means you have the ProII that can be converted between QR/15/20 than consider the Reba with Maxle upgrade later. A ProII and Stans Crest/Alpine wheelset will save you some weight over the 1900g DT factory ones

i weigh in at 14 stone so wouldn't go for crest rims... hence the suggestion of flows

Where did you suggest Flows? Anyway, 14st would be fine on Crests. Flows would be overkill IMO...if you're suggesting Flows and Revs maybe you should be considering the 5Spot...or the EX9! Stans Arch if you're that concerned. Running 355s on my Flux and they have stood up very well and I've seen people running 355/Crest on 5Spots.
