My first time ever in Yorkshire in September for a week. It's a family break but I want to get a few rides in whilst i'm there.
So, some fun descending orientated routes for half a days riding or so would be great. Any suggestions for the area?
Descending- orientated? .... sorry, you're on the Moors/Wolds there. Loads of XC, see here. http://www.pedalnorth.com/content/north-yorkshire-moors-mtb-routes
Silton wouldn't be far away for a bit of descending.
Are there still DH trails at Boltby? A decade plus since I was there.
Sorry, I didn't mean full on downhill runs as in push up, ride down, I just meant some decent trails with some fun descending thrown in there. Living in Northants means I don't get much chance to enjoy hills very much so want to make the most of it.
We did quite a good short one last week called Rievaulx Woods (we'd intended going to the lakes, but the weather looked marginally better in the east), it was just after all the heavy rain, so a bog fest in places, but certainly one of the downs made it worth it. you do it clockwise. maybe a possibility if you want a ride from the door.
Also some reasonable all weather stuff from sutton bank car park.
We also did a longer route called cropton forest loop, which we did the wrong way round, but was good, especially using the cheeky footpaths in cropton forest. no mud at all on that one.
There was also one called rutland rigg which I downloaded and it looked (or read) quite good, but didn't do. Looks like you could split it in to two shorter rides as well.
