Currently have a set of Magura MT8 Pro brakes, as seems to be a common issue, the threads in the leaver brackets are starting to strip so time for a change up

Considered going for Hope X2 or E4 as a replacement but also considering a Shigura set up to save a little cash and because I’m fairly happy with the Maguras as they are

Question(s)....

Anyone using a Shigura setup? Pros? Cons?

What levers should I be looking at if I went the way of using Shimano branded lever units?

My only “it MUST have this feature” would be metal housing so as to reduce the likelihood of stripped threads followed closely by “I’d like to have as much adjustment in reach and bite point as possible if that’s an option”

Thoughts, Comments and suggestions all welcome and greatly received

If it were me, I'd try Loctitine a length of threaded rod into the lever (basically, just get a longer bolt of the same diameter and thread pitch and cut the threaded section off) and using a dome nut to fasten them. They don't have to be done up very tight, just pinched up enough to stop them moving under normal use.

Often, the thread at the bottom of the hole is still good because the standard bolt doesn't reach all the way down. You can screw a threaded rod all the way down to the bottom of the hole, so it has more material available. By Loctiting it in and using a dome nut, you will avoid damaging the thread any more.

A Helicoil would be another option.

Never thought of the longer bolt idea but good shout that man! Will try that definitely!

In the case that doesn’t work, regarding new levers...are there any recommendations or is it best to change the brakes completely?

The calipers are pretty well regarded. I'd look for new levers. Magura do make a range of levers, or Shimano.

I was Tempted to get Magura levers but hesitant, as far as I know, all their levers are plastic or carbon composite of sorts, ideally I’m looking for metal housing on any new levers
