So...I'm off to Tignes next week for some mountain bike/road riding. Free lifts! plus cheap accommodation are just to good to pass up.
Two of us are driving down.

Just looking for some advice on what to expect and things I need to bring (apart from the obvious helmet, tools etc).

Cheers

Rode though there in Aug last year. The lifts were shut due to high winds and everyone looked very grumpy!

The road was good though from there to Val d'Isere and the climb up the Iseran was well worth doing.

Ok, so there are two lifts from Tignes-le-Lac, one on each side. Aeroski and Palafour. We spent the day there last week and it would seem a lot of the trails on the aeroski side are closed during the week due to what looks like piste construction work. The palafour on the other side gives a mixture of swoopy fun jumpy trails and a couple of rocky exposed adventures. Jump around and Tart a Lognan were particularly fun.

Take long sleeve jerseys, it can be effing freezing up there. Tignes itself is very high up and all the trails are well above the treeline and therefore open to the wind. Stunning scenery though.

If you're mobile, Les Arcs and La Rosiere aren't far away. Both have excellent trails descending through the forest.

Forgot to mention, the aeroski lift does link you with the Val D'Isere area, so there are some long rides to be found in those mountains!

Went last year and had a grand time, Take your passport and you can get a free demo on a jazzy canyon. There is I decent trail from the lift on the right that take you right down to Boisses.

We went to Tignes last week! Most of the trails were shut, the enduro trail was poorly signposted and the trail we were following before at stopped when we reached the excavator making it.

Some of the runs we're fine but I'd be planning upon going elsewhere as youd be bored of Tignes after a good day.

StFoy is just down the road, hook up with The White Room and see if you can tag onto one of their groups for a day. Excellent riding around there.

Alternatively, drive to Bourge St Maurice and go up to Les Arcs.

You could also pop over to Iraly to La Thuille for a day too.

+1 for La Thuile - we haven't made it over there on the bikes but the map is on the reverse of the La Rosiere map and it looks quite a big area.
