Hello.
I treat myself to a lovely Park tools torque wrench recently and was hoping to add the larger bit set later this month. Said set absolutely bombed in all reviews... Poor quality and finish, no holder's supplied etc, surprising and disappointing from the 'snap-on' of the velo world.
Does anyone know of an alternative? I'm reluctant to buy a full kit having accumulated many individual bits during lock down fettling.
Halfords professional stuff has always worked for me and doesn’t carry quite as high a price tag as some of the other brands out there.
Halfords Pro or Teng Tools if I'm buying any 'standard' tools.
Just bought a Bahco set which seems good for the money.
Might be worth checking them out?
I've settled on Wera bits in work, tried Facom but wasn't impressed, especially with their smaller sizes (though I am still using their bit holders).
Thanks for all the suggestions team... I'll have a gander at some of them. A mate of mine said Makita so a decent one too FYI 👍🏻
I've a Bahco mini set - use it all the time on the bike.
I've a Halfords advanced bigger/full size set too, use it for BB's, cassettes etc.
Have had a std 1/4 Halfords mini set for decades, originally for motorbike use and that tipped me towards a full Halfords professional set a couple of years ago. They have been faultless for amateur use. Not sure why I bought a black set though. The original mini set lives in the car bike box now.
I've got the bigger halfords set and very rarely need to use anything else (unless bike specific tools). The Halfords stuff works well.
I do have a set of Park Tools super Allen/Torx stuff which i get as a birthday present next month.
Wera / Bahco / Bondhus / Halfords Advanced for bits or bit sets.
The quality of some Park Tools stuff has bombed over the last 5 years. Apparently they're outsourcing a lot more production to China in an attempt to save money, with the inevitable decline in quality that such an approach brings. They still make great specialist tools, but you can get better and cheaper general tools from the above manufacturers.
Another vote for the Halfords professional
But make sure you get them when it’s on offer (and it usually is) the RRP on the kits is over inflated
Re the earlier mention about makita
I’ve had a couple boxes of makita bits through work one mixxed drill/screw/socket bits and one sockets and I’d advise caution. The mixed bits were Chinese tat, the socket set was better but still sub Halfords professional quality.

Or Facom
Or the sets that Lidl sometimes sell.
Park's run of the mill tools (allen keys, sockets, circlip pliers, etc) are junk, their bespoke stuff is good though (bb tools).
Wera is good, go to for allen keys and bits at the moment.
