Im sticking my entry in tomorrow, in the vain hope of my name being pulled out of the bag. Frankly I doubt it'll happen, but hey, I have as good, or bad, a chance as everyone else who enters.

Please, please, please, please, please, please etc let me be one of them. I get starry eyed just looking at the website....

Who on here has been lucky enough to have done it in the past? What are your experiences?

Not done it but interested and vaguely considering it. Looks fantastic. Anyone with experience who can offer a comment on the event and the difficulty?

I was half tempted to chuck one in and deal with the logistics and flights later, asked a mate who did it and he suggested Trans Prov instead. If I had the cash and air miles I probably would but not got enough to make it a certainty.

Would love to but..

A. Can't afford
B. Couldn't leave the kids for a week
C. Im not in the 'circle' so wouldn't get picked anyway.

I'd love to but gave it up, they can't deal with my medical stuff... Been in the valley while the race was on for the last 2 years and ridden a lot of the trails, you hardly see an unhappy face (though lots of very tired ones) and the riding's superb.

he suggested Trans Prov instead.

I understand that's even harder to get into, more expensive too I recall.

I am not up to it physically, have been tempted from time to time to put an application in and deal with it but TBH it would break me (when I've done guided weeks I take the lay day off and don't ride) ! I see they are offering lux accomodation packs now so I assume that means hotel not camping, I certainly could not do a full on week like that sleeping in a tent. Have exchanged messages with Ali about doing the guided version and that would be more likely.

Did it the first year. Best weeks riding I have ever done.
Trails were outstanding and having to hit the stages in one (20-30 minute stages) gave it a totally different feel to riding them without the pressure of racing.
Fitness wise, it's a bit relentless and I was very happy to finish the last stage; but I was by no means at my fittest.
If you can cope with multiple days in say the lakes doing 1000 meter days, then you will have no problem with the very relaxed transition stages.

Got an entry in for both, should find out sometime tonight for Trans-Savoie and tomorrow for Trans-Provence. Fingers and toes crossed 🙂

Did the Trans Savoie last year and it was superb. 😀

Couple of my buddies just got in. They're not in any circle either.

1300. Pretty pricey but at least you didn't have to pay it up front.

Their Facebook page made it sound like they'd had loads of interest so I pretty much gave up any hope at that point.

Contemplating the guided holiday they offer instead, unless anyone has suggestions for alternatives (trans provence already considered but I can't get that much money together that quickly).

Charliemort, out of interest do you race at all, and what bike do you have?

An old friend of mine won it this year, and 3rd in TP. He keeps hassling me to enter. However, I know as much as I love the trails I'm not tough enough for the duration.

I wont be there next year, initially i was a little bit disappointed but the reply email said that Ali wanted to keep the entries as open as possible and just being in one year should not guarantee a place for the next. I totally agree and i think ill be heading to Spain for the EWS if i can snag a place. I have ridden a little bit round that area and it is absolutely phenomenal 🙂

Good effort to all those riding next year, have a blast 🙂

would love a go at this, pricey tho, I was wondering about next year or the year after (milestone birthday so justified to splash out a bit) but as I noticed the other night it's "apply and we may send you an invite" it looks like I won't get the opportunity :frowny face:

I made it, and the husband too. Not in any sort of circle either, not even a knitting one!

I was there in 2014.
I can't recommend enough making g sure you are fit. 1000m of climbing in southern England is cake and pie compared to 1000m at altitude.
Also try a few local enduro - take a look at some of the results and compare your times against riders who have been there (roots and rain.com can help)
It's give you an idea of how fast some of the riders are (or are not, as in my case).

And if shimano are sponsors make sure you have as much shimano kit on your bike as you can get on it 😉

Haha charliemort, no..was wondering if they look at roots and rain to see if people have raced and how they did and isn't there a question for what type/make of bike you have?

No luck here, well disappointed. Ah well, might have to book myself a week at The White Room as compensation.
