You have incurred the wrath of Mumsnet 🙄

Note: DH does not mean downhill

People laugh at you on here if you post links to Mumsnet!

Saw that earlier today, presumably she's been told to LTB?

STW - male neurosis.
Mumsnet - female neurosis.

The replies seemed rather balanced, not even a mention of a trip up the oxo towers.

Well they're a trusting and well balanced lot aren't they? Being friends with a woman is clearly tantamount to an "emotional affair".

I had to laugh at the woman who said that if she was trying to seduce someone, she wouldn't let him see her "sweating in cycling clothes with a tightly padded gusset" 😀

I had to look up YABU and YANBU

My mate posted a pic on Strava of an unknown cycling buddy this morning...I may need to investigate.

I've been out riding with a female friend today. But I'm female. Am I having an emotional affair?

Is confused.

MrsMc has declared that she knows I'm not having an affair when I set off to ride in the morning, as "no woman could find that attractive".

Very supportive, my wife 🙄

She's obviously never considered the possibility that he could be gay/bi and worried about him cycling with male friends.

Ok at the risk of getting into an actual mumsnet debate: going cycling and out for the odd lunch sounds fine - going for lunch regularly, cycling together regularly and going out for the day sightseeing does sound a bit weird.

I have cycled with female friends, spent a day with them and no shit, had lunch with them too. Mrs JAMJ couldn't give two hoots. If I spent all my time with any friend it would piss her off - male or female.

So, anyone else has the conversation that starts with "I've been chatting with this girl/woman on the Internet and we're going riding in the mountains"?

if they are roadies then if they cycle somewhere they are probably going to look around so not really any issue there.

What's wrong with that? I have gone for meals/drinks with female friends without any thought that the other half would get pissed off. Mainly because we are both adults and not lumbered with 1950's sensibilities or riddled with insecurities.

It shouldn't matter if the cycling partner is male or female.

My other half does tango, other men put their hands on her waist and shoulder and look into her eyes. If you can't deal with stuff like that you probably shouldn't be in a relationship.

I recently spent the weekend staying with a very attractive 22 year old single female friend. My wife was cool with it - I think mainly cos she knows I'm so far out of her league that nothing untoward would ever happen. 😀

Oh, it appears I may have misread the situation. So you mean when you asked me if I wanted to come outside and check out your girth you weren't talking about the tyres on your fatbike?

SPD

Going to have to google that

It's the hipocracy on Mumsnet that amuses me.

If the roles were reversed they'd all be supporting the woman's right to have a male friend with whom to share a hobby.

All men are bastards on mumsnet. They're just seen as a cash cow half the time.

No wonder most of their husbands are viewing porn or shagging around.

Oooft! I'm as much of a fan of cervical mucus as the next guy, but any internet forum where there's a universally accepted and commonly used acronym for it is probably not for me. I'm out.

There's some reasonable discussion and intelligent people on mumsnet but there is a fairly strong undercurrent of hypocrisy and misandry on there. Some posters seem to genuinely not like men very much and are quick to find fault with anything they do, while excusing anything women might do wrong as being a man's fault for making her want to do it.

Well done for convincing her of that

You've never seen me IRL have you? 🙂

To be precise, one MNer suggested that the DW gets the OW's bike checked out at Halfords.
Presumably to prove that the STBXH was lying.

Is someone going to tell them that HF are NTBT and they should take the bike to an LBS if they want to be sure about DH's story.

Heh good point DanW and most people were on the OP's side so we're (collectively) pretty much as hypocritical and biased. 🙂

Presumably to prove that the Stupid, Tool Buying, Xhibitionist Hamster was lying.

The recent rash of Mumsnet-lurking threads on STW reminds me of that stage in school where the boys (STW - sorry ladies of STW, just bear with me here) have just stopped playing football, taking the piss out of each other, and beating each other up for just long enough to notice that there's a group of girls (mumsnet) on the other side of the playground (the internet), who have previously only been interested in gossiping amongst themselves and doing things with their mum's make-up. It's only a matter of time until one of "them" comes over here and asks if one of "us" want to go to the cinema after school.
