I've had a Charge Duster for many years and it would be the one bike I could not do without but I decided to make the jump to 27.5 so I purchased a Sanderson Town Crier.
Wow!! What a difference the Charge is gathering dust and I am a convert already but who are Sanderson cycles? Are they like Merlin when they brought out the Malt?
It's only a curiosity I have never conformed to the usual trek, giant etc etc and finding Sanderson were a brit firm that was enough for me but can anyone enlighten me?

There's a joiner near us called Sanderson which I always chuckle at.
Been arround for ages, I had an 853 Sanderson Life which was great, sold to get a Singular Swift. Not sure if its just the advent of CEN testing making everything a bit heavier and stiffer, but the Life was a great frame for eating up the miles on.
I had a Breath for years.
Fantastic, supple frame with tough paint and a great look to it.
The classic 'steel is real' feel in many ways.
Maybe too supple StirlingCrispin broke his a few times I think.
I sold it to some kid in the town, I saw him out on it yesterday evening.
I've got a 26" Sanderson Life in the garage gathering dust. Really nice, but 26" just can't keep up.

Ten years ago if you wanted a 'boutique" steel frame you went Cotic, Cove, Sanderson, Dialled or Pipedream. From memory Sanderson's USP was a oversized BB shell which could take an eccentric BB to run single speed without a tensioner.

There is a breath frame on ebay at the moment but it's 26 not sure I can go back after going 27.5 I still have enough 26 stuff to build it but would I ever use it??

Ohhh yes, Ritchey dropouts.
I think their USP was that while others were selling 'trail' bikes with 130mm travel the Life was an XC race bike that happened to be steel (and have full length cable outers and tough paint).
So they make great bikes but who are they? Are they a bike shop or like Pipedream? I seem to think they are Southampton based but I've no idea where I got that from (too many American Pale Ales last night probably)

I just liked mine.
Just a one man band as far as I know. Not sure if they are still going tbh.

Used to lust after Sanderson's, even as Cotic owner.

James rode it for a while, passed it on to his wife when he got a Dialled PA. She's still riding it.
As MattOAB says: I owned a Sanderson Life and Soloist.
Also persuaded the LBS to stock as they were the only stockist in Scotland.
Lovely bikes to ride.
Never got on with the Soloist EBB though and sold it on to LeeLovesBikes. Replaced with an Inbred.
Life - ripped the mech hanger open too many times and eventually replaced it with a Soul (which I then snapped. Markus Stitz's bike mechanic (Dougs) is now using the top tube as a breaker bar).

I've wondered about their background before, difficult to find any info. Obviously a small British based frame building outfit using mostly Reynolds 853.
