Just reading the airdrop thread and wondering what other aluminium enduro frames weigh in comparison? Can't say mine feels particularly heavy, but I've never had it on the scales.
I have just been looking at frame weights following that thread! Yt? Capra carbon seems to be 2.4kg so only a kilo more than the airdrop.
Transition patrol alloy seems to be about 3.2kg. That's all I have looked at so far!
Rorscach, just looking for perspective without tralling through the net for information. This being STW I would be surprised if nobody had done a spreadsheet.
Large Liteville 601 Mk2.
190mm travel with RS Vivid Air (240 x 76), Syntace headset, chain guide, mech guard and seatpost clamp is 3.86kg.
I think an incarceration of the 26" P7 weighed about 7lbs, how things have gotten betterer! Are those weights including shock?
3.5-4kg with shock, carbon frames are around 0.5kg lighter
The (just about to be replaced) Reign was mega light for what it is. I seem to recall 2.4kg with the shock?
As said, carbon vs ali equivalent isn't always that huge a saving, but you can save a lot more in the riding gear...

That said, my ali bike is 30, maybe 32lbs, but it's got heavier kit on it for what it gets used for. Carbon full sus I've got down to 27ish lbs. My carbon hard tail oddly is similar despite a lighter frame. Heavier wheels I think.
Banshee Spitfire is 3kg plus shock
Banshee Rune is 3.15kg plus shock
(both with axles and seat clamps)
For their travel I think the Liteville frames are the lightest alloy ones out there - the 301 is 2.5kg plus shock.
Frame weight is almost an irrelevance - there's only about 1kg in it between the lightest and heaviest frames, which is barely 1% of the total system weight.
Seems to me that all the ancillary shit that we bolt onto our frames these days has gone up in weight- wider bars, bigger wider wheels, bigger, wider, stronger tyres, dropper posts, dinner plate sized cassettes, chain guards, all adds a lot of weight very easily.
From memory from when I was looking at such things I seem to remember the Giant frames were the lightest alu 'duro frames around.
Single ring, big cassette and a minimalist guide is still a bit lighter than an extra chainring, shifter and front mech. Fashionably wide rims are often a little lighter than I'd personally want and now that most folk run tubeless running Exo tyres doesn't have such a big weight penalty either.Seems to me that all the ancillary shit that we bolt onto our #Enduro frames these days has gone up in weight- wider bars, bigger wider wheels, bigger, wider, stronger tyres, dropper posts, dinner plate sized cassettes, chain guards,Tubes, Co2, pumps/tools, bottles, gels, mudguards all adds a lot of weight very easily.
what does a 5 650b weigh?
About the weight of a 5 drawer filing cabinet I know, but what's that in kg?

~2.4kg without the shock, its one of the lighter carbon enduro frames. Enduro 29 2018 is 3.3kg, swat box adds a fair bit of weight.

I'd be surprised if it's over 3kg without the shock. They claimed to have dropped 400g off the weight when they updated the design with more elaborate folding and thinner gauge aluminium in the last year or so and there's only one pivot (bearings are heavy!)
Radon Swoop 18in with Vivid Air, rear axle, headset cups & seat collar = a very reasonable 3.8kg

They're still often heavier than their slimmer counterpart though. Spent ages deciding on a new wheel build with DT rims, and many of the 30mm rims work out roughly 50g heavier than the 25mm rims, or rather wider adds 100g to the wheel set.
Rather obviously. Yes.
The exact same thing in a larger size generally is.
Sounds like this information could save you a lot of time. 😉
A 2018 patrol frame in the bike shop was a staggering 4.2kg.
Yup, love Giants - my Reigns been bombproof, stiff despite the two piece rocker link and it weighs as little as many carbon frames. They are the Honda of the MTB world.
