Really fancy it. But what are/is an outboard PF30 BB?

All my bikes are PF30 but the bearings are in the frame.

I understand when you convert PF30 to 24mm a la hope and then your bearings sit externally?

Crank looks awesome.

No idea, but you need a 30mm axle to use this bike jewellery.

Yeah. I'm ready for that one.

But don't get the other bit.

Assuming PF is PressFit then no matter how fancy they are, I'd be avoiding. Ti is springy, is it sensible to use on a crank?

If it works for you then go for it, but I'm not seeing any benefit to that myself...

I can't find the list of BBs that work… just buy a Hope one… 73mm shell…

PF is determined by the frame, not the cranks.

🤦🏻‍♂️

I think cost effectiveness is the only real concern. And perhaps appearance… if you prefer the plastic look.

Every review I’ve read (mag and real) have said how crazy stiff they are. They’re first on my list when I get a metal framed bike.

Agreed about frame being PF, but I'd be looking to replace the frame before getting some fancy cranks...if you are spending that then at least make sure it is going to last.

Hope it is then Kelvin.

My Chris King PF will have to wear first. PF30 has been fine for me.

Ti is springy when made that way in a frame. Ti can be very stiff. If anything carbon cranks have not been as stiff as my ally rotor ones.

I like the idea of being able to 3m pad the crank up too.

If moving the cranks to a different frame later, he'll just need to buy a different bottom bracket. If your point is that "you could buy a new frame for that money", then fair enough, you're bang on. But in terms on lengevity, I think that is one thing this bike jewel has going for it… built to last. Should out live the first frame it goes on, for sure.

PF has never been a problem for me. Put a good BB in. No issues.

PF is all about quality of the BB and quality of the installation. There’s a recent thread on here about PF tools where a guy realised he’d been running an XTR BB92 for over three years troublefree. Obviously it’s possible to have a crap frame, but PF just needs a solid engineering approach to make work. Granted, BSA all you need to do is not cross-thread so there *are* fair criticisms...

I love my frame. Turner Czar 1.1 My first frame gave me 15000 miles of pleasure before the rocker gave in.

New frame I got at cost - which was embarrassingly because of Dave Turners generosity five years later - was cheaper than this crank. Gulp.

I have been a very good customer though.

It's either this or Rotor's new 2in1 power but that's boost and not sure what that will do to my chainline.

Or the eewing with power. Ouch!

I will add (and I don't earn much at all - just value quality) nothing I've ever bought that was deemed expensive as ever been a bad purchase.

You pay for quality.

This. I really can’t get my head around the ‘I bought a (expensive bike part) and it’s the shittest thing ever!’ Type ‘reviews’ you see on some (mainly American based) fora.

Suspect most of those are due to the reality not being the same as the expectation...

My Cube road bike is still on its original PF BB and it's 9 years/several thousand miles old.  realise it likely doesn't take the same abuse as it would on a MTB but it does suffer from intermittent use - a factor which is known to kill bearings.

I’m usually a sucker for this sort of thing, but I’m just not feeling it! I think it might be coz it’s shiny - it just looks a bit 90’s...!

Trying to work out if the oilslick one will look overkill with an oil slick cassette and chain...

I have a Praxis 30mm bb92 bottom bracket which I currently run a Lyft Crank in. It’s been installed on 2 bikes in the nearly 2 years I’ve had it and is absolutely buttery smooth still.
I am very tempted by the eeWing, and I’ll probably just use the same bb.
