what are these like? they look nice and trendy...... what's the advantage over my standard bib-tights with spray shorts over the top (other than looking nice and trendy....)

Not a lot in it really, mainly I’d say you can wear knee pads under them and they are easier to strip off once muddy leaving nice clean legs underneath. One word of warning, the Flexair  trousers aren’t the most trendy looking in real life unless you are a bit of an MC Hammer fan (I am) as they aren’t especially fitted. The Kevlar version (defend?) are better

Defend Kevlar over here. like said above, clean legs are a real bonus. I find waterproof socks more effective when I wear trousers as it stops a lot of the water that hits your legs running down into the socks.
Cut of them is good, sizing good and they are comfy enough to pedal in all day. Works for me!

i have the fire defend, they are dam quality... but baggy at the knees.. have had a few spills and they have protected me so far.. also keep me reasonably dry on my wet wood's rides.
i went for a 34 and 34 is usually spot on for me.. unfortunately i have to pull the ratchet up full and they just cut it for me (too big)

I should have mentioned that too. I usually go for a medium/32 in most trousers but have a size 30 in Fox because of their ridiculous sizing, their size chart even says a US 30 is actually a 32! Check out the size chart on CRC  https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/fox-racing-defend-kevlar-trousers-aw19/rp-prod182477

Agree with all the above. I have the flexair and they are great just to whip off before getting in the car with clean legs. Pads fit fine under and they are comfortable to ride in. Again usually go 34 and I think I could get away with a 32 as well.

That’s odd. I’m a 32 normally and the flex air *shorts* are spot on for me in 32
