I have a bling set of tubeless wheels that the previous owner, for some unbeknownst reason, has drilled for a schraeder valve (he's only done it to one of them, which is even weirder).....

Is there any way I can fit a presta valve for a tubeless setup? is there some sort of rubber bung thing I can get hold of?

Tape it and just fit a stans presta valve. Big enough to seal by the time it’s all done up and you’ve chucked some jizz in.

This works with a presta tube, so may work with a tubeless valve...

Just a guess, but he probably wanted to use Schraeder valves. I drill all my rims to fit Schrader because it's really simple to remove the valve cores and clean out tubeless sealant, plus you can buy valves pretty much anywhere. I use split inner tubes for tubeless. With the rims drilled for Schrader, you can fit any tube in if you get a puncture that won't seal.

Yep he was probably one of the hamfisted many that claim presta valves are too fragile for them .

Cut valve out of a schwalbe tube -they have full length threaded valves .

Personally I don’t get why we all use presta valves on our tyres when Schraeder ones are so much more robust. Generally find them ok, but have occasionally bent a presta valve core with the kind of mini pump that locks onto the valve.

We have presta on high pressure shocks and forks so guessing they'd be up to the job even for high pressure road tyres.

I’d go with schraeder if it wasn’t for the fact my road bike and one mtb already had presta and it would be annoying having different valve types on different bikes.

I’m sure I found some tubeless schraeder valves when I was looking round before.

He probably fitted them as they are miles better than presta. Only reason presta was introduced was for narrow rims that were tge fashion. Fortunately that fashion has died.

Drill the other one out and fit some nice tubeless schrader valves.

Yup, leave it in.  Way better for tubeless than presta.

I would just fit a tubeless schraeder valve.

If you like putting sealant in the valve then its a bigger hole, also more air flow for seating.

If you have a presta tubeless valve with a big enough cone I guess it should seal, and use a conti lockring with the step so it locates in the valve hole.

I've found Schraeder valves better for setting up and runnign tubeless.

The only issue is they aren't mainstream enough yet and its difficult to find long enough valve stems for deep section rims.

These are the longest I have found and even work on my carbon Enve rims.

This 🙂 Ghetto tubeless FTW.

Schrader on forks and shocks 🙂
