Broke a bone in my hand today, rode DH runs in Wales a couple months ago, big mountains in the alps last week and just clipped a tree with the bars in the local woods, trail ive ridden 100s of times, and lost control. Was going pretty damn quick though!
Only consolation is the weather is supposed to be turning this weekend so got all of this great summer we have had..

Chris.... I have broken quite few bones over the years riding, every one was just riding along or when I was tired, never when " I was riding at my best"

Get well soon 🙂

Solidarity here too. Radial fracture to my radius back in June. My arm still won't straighten out fully, makes popping noises and still hurts some days. Years of rock climbing, martial arts and MTB. First broken bone on an idle commute to work.

You'll be back on the bike in no time. Hope it heals up quick.

Dont mind the breaks, its the severed tendons and muscle damage that grind my gears.

All the best in your recovery, fingers are a pain.

3 weeks into broken ankle (not broken whilst on the bike).
The worst bit so far has been 2 weeks in hospital waiting for swelling to go down before an op to fix it. I got told I wasn't allowed to race wheelchairs, which made me sad.

8 weeks since breaking my tibia and fibula. Slipped entering a swimming pool.

4 days in hospital in Gran Canaria, operation to plate the tibia all under a local anaesthetic. Thank god for holiday insurance.

Cast is coming off on Monday and then I have to wear a brace for at least 6 weeks.

So far though my bikes had had new pedals, chain set and rear mechs. Just a shame I can't ride them.

Hoping to get on a turbo trainer next week!!

You'll mend quite quickly and be back on the bike before you know it.

11 weeks in here (broke my hip, not on the bike) and another 5 months to go before I can take part in any activities. It really has been doing my head in.

I've not broken a limb (yet) but, like you, the only time i've ended up in a big yellow taxi was just pootling along Bush Whacker @ BPW heading to the cafe just after doing Rock'n'Roll. I [url=

a pedal in the dip[/url], woke up a few minutes later with a massive headache, a split carbon TLD, and started throwing up. Ended up with 2 cracked ribs and balance/dizzyness issues for ~ 2 months. Thankfully, the Orange [s]Girders[/s] Patriot was fine. Just spun bars.

Heal up soon. It happens to all of us at some point.

Broke my first bones a week ago riding a motorbike. Broke the tib and fib. Pinned and plated. Booked off anything active for the next month. Can't even drive. Going up the wall with boredom.

Cheers all, not getting too much sympathy from the gf!

I've broken both feet in several places on different occasions coming off motorbikes but this is my first MTB breakage. Managed to ride home, mostly one handed but on the rough stuff I had to sort of hold on as it's the left so the good hand was on the front brake. Could feel every single stone under the wheels, utter agony! Not as bad as when I sliced through tendons and nerves with some swarf at work but bloody painful still.

Worst part is not being able to do anything, first day of it and I've spent most of it pacing around the house not knowing what to do with myself, think by the end of this my whisky collection will have taken a large knock! Will be trying to get on the turbo trainer on monday when she's at work.

Bike is fine, haven't properly checked for dents but all works fine. Lid has a massive dent in it, time for a new one I think as that makes 4 big ones!

Can't wait to get back out

I broke my right wrist doing 5 miles an hour straight down an unknown grassy slope, a hollow appeared unexpectedly and I went over the bars and landed on my wrist. It taught me to go down unknown slopes diagonally.

Read books and things? Looking back, I suppose injuries can good for learning stoicism and patience, and developing in a 'different direction', and understanding about attachment to things.

Not that my head hasn't been done in by injuries, but it isn't all bad.

Healing vibes chaps.

Have managed a few breaks myself, the funniest of which (aged about 13) was a broken arm after leaping off the back of a moving London bus. Had missed my stop so the logical course of action was to do a Superman. Mates didn't believe I'd broken it so I had to spend about 10 hrs wandering around before finally getting to a hospital. Fun times.

Welcome to the club.

Currently into my 4th month recovering from a shattered proximal humerus so been off the bike all summer. Good news is that movement is finally improving and I was told by my physio last week to start doing light bike rides again.

Healing vibes being sent from here and I'm sure you'll soon be back riding again.

Probably about 6 weeks off the bike. Thats what I had to do when I fractured my elbow 3 or 4 years ago. Best summer we'd had for a while and I couldn't ride. FFS.
Still when you're healed those lovely fast dry trails will have turned into slippery filth.

My broken wrist was a few years ago, I'd weeks earlier decided to start taking risks a bit more. Felt daft to break it at down hill walking pace. Oh well, life 'is' daft. 🙂

Hope you heal quickly. I am currently nursing a ligament tear and the cast is due off on weds, still isn't fixed I can tell. Bones heal faster you will be back riding before you know it

Hope you heal quickly !!!

I broke 3 metatarsal bones in my left hand on an OTB event--due to one moment of inattention, clipped a rock and BAM!!!

All plastered up now, 4 weeks in the cast then another 2 to heal so probably 2 months before I'm on the bike again.
Voluntarily decided to go back to work although I do get 100% sick pay, as I was going mad sat around the house all day!
