Another great race. looked like Vergier was on for another win, then Bruni and finally Reece stomping it home and taking the win with an amazing ride. All the brits looked good through the rock sections, Hart and Greenland were flying, just a shame Hart punctured and greenland lost some pace possibly with a bad line choice around the tree?

Felt sorry for Daprela, though he's still winning overall and it actually will makes the last race a lot more interesting with Vergier only 46 pts back now. Amazing that the top 2 riders have both had a race where they got 0 points.

Another highlight was Jordan Williams beating wonderboy Jackson Goldstone by 3.5 seconds to take the win in the junior men.

That's a ridiculous course, i can't even imagine how you pick a path through the rock section.

Very very impressive !

Finally a win for Valli 🤘
Shame she had to take it after Miriam crashed but it's a win all the same.

It did look like Miriam was on to smash it though.

Stoked to see Reece take the win too 🏆

Oh wow, someone else did watch it!
I've been using this thread

Did they show Cathro's run?

I was short on time and accidentally discovered the result before I'd watched it AGAIN, and so skipped through much of the field and watched the last 10 or so riders.

Nah didn't see anything of him on the coverage.

It was really close racing, 0.03s, that's got to be getting on for the shortest time gap. I think it's equivalent to something like a 30cm gap (or the size of a post race Enve wheel) over a 2.1 km course.

Only realised it was on about 20 from the end, but wow what a race! So good to see Reece take it, these days it seems not many can get close to the fast French guys- and there’s about half a dozen of them. But when the stars align for Reece he is capable of going so bloody fast.

Tight at the top now and it all comes down to the last race. Would love to see Daprela take it. Awesome for Vali too.

that 0.032 may prove to be particularly costly for Bruni, as he lost 40 points.

Having said that, I can see Bruni winning on Sat*, and he'd be really close to the overall if that happened. Loris would have to be 4th or better to beat him, and Daprella would have to be 10th or better to beat. If neither of these happens then Bruni would pinch it.

* he was 0.5 up on everyone at split 4 and only lost it to Reece in the very last section.

Anyone know how Daprela is? Can't decide if sitting by the track waiting for his mechanic to carry his bike back, with a miserable face on was due to injury or just the realisation of how many points that mechanical had cost him.

Odd track, but is does make for exciting racing! Thought Reece had lost it when he went into the red, but...

Anyone know how Daprela is?

His Insta shows him up on the podium afterwards as the series leader, so I guess he's ok..?

Did they show Cathro’s run?

Nope, he was too far down the order. Here's his POV though:

I'm not seeing why every is getting excited about Bruni and the overall. Vergier has been on it all year and Daprela has been super consistent, one of them might have a bum run but I can't see both of them dropping enough to see Bruni take the overall.

Are they? Seems like the outside chance, but it does keep the pressure on which will hopefully produce an exciting final. Not worked out the points but I guess we could have a situation like DH in 2019 where someone else effectively decides the title..?

There seemed to be a fair bit of chatter on PB, Reggie was talking about it, a bit on message groups.

He may well decide where it goes but I'm struggling to see him win.

Daprela's wheel properly exploded, when he crashes he really crashes. I'm surprised there weren't more mechanicals.

Crashed again in qualies for round 2 and is out of the race.

Vergier in the driving seat now but if Bruni wins LV still needs 2nd place (I think). Should be an exciting finish, and the prospect of a bit of rain, well..

Daprela’s wheel properly exploded,

Tell me more about this DH people. Should he be pissed at his mechanic/supplier, or is this just expected at that speed/level?

Gutted for daprela now out due to the latest crash, not had any decent luck at all.
Leaves the final round with even more excitement. Possible for Reece to win the overall too if the loic and Loris mess up.

It looked like the tyre came off the rim which then took a big hit on the rocks. Whether the former was due to a failure caused by an earlier impact.. who knows?

On Cathro's analysis vid he commented that the Commencal team were making a lot more (ding) noise through those sections and he hypothesized that they maybe were running lower pressures than others.

Yeah, Redbull have the replays of World Champs and Lenzerheide, plus a bunch of other stuff, listed before you find Snowshoe.

Bummer for Daprela, he's had a rough year despite doing well whenever he hasn't almost died.

If Bruni wins, Loris has to be 4th or better to take the title.

If Bruni is 2nd, Loris has to be 8th or better to take the title.

If Bruni is 3rd, Loris has to be 12th or better to take the title.

Interestingly... the qualy for the 2nd race has Bruni in 1st and Loris in 4th...

Hopefully Mr Hart will throw a spanner at the stats again.
Then get totally ignored because it's about the over-all.

Does anyone know what the thing with blocking the nostrils while warming up is about? Is it meant to open the airways up for the race run?

And that sums up why my pinkbike team is doing so badly.

I don't know if it was because it was mentioned so much in the commentary that brought it into focus so much, but I don't think I have seen a downhill race of attrition due to pressure play out before, both the women's and the men's.

A few have been just as dramatic but are usually about the fastest racers putting down great runs and seeing who would be fastest on the day to decide the outcome.

Well, a deserved winner no doubt
spoiler below just in case anyone reading this didn't want to know who won round 2 and the overall

I've never seen anyone fall to pieces and throw it away as much as Loris did there, his head must have been all over the place. Total contrast to Loic who absolutely crushed it with a first place qualifier and taking the win and the overall.
Disappointed that the track seemed to share so much with round 1, but it must have been tough in those rock gardens as they claimed so many victims. Shame for Reece, I'd have liked to see another full run from him but I don't think he would have beaten Loic's time - he just looked unbeatable.

I'm not convinced pressure played a factor, mistakes are very very easy to make and it's inches either way from a good to a bad.

I doubt he was thinking "if I crash here I'll lose the overall" it was more "ooooh rock rock roots rock left rock oh!"
