Getting to Coed for day 1, staying over, up at dawn to get up and down early in 3rd week of July. Looking for bike friendly digs close to start within 15km and best route up and down?

Advised Llanberis up and Rangers down.

We are used to Alps riding. What do you think?

cheers

Early early morning or late after the no riding times otherwise you will just be crawling through walkers

Yep Llanberis/Rangers is the best route - make sure you scope out/don't miss the turn for Telegraph Valley after Rangers!

Yep pre 10:00 finish or post 17:00 start, saves any hassle and complaints to the Snowdonia park. As per mikewsmith no fun either weaving through hordes of walkers.

And watch yer navigation...

17 minutes in for the dawning realisation that no, this isn't Rangers...

Good film though.

It's a great vid that. Surprised Kesteven made such a dog's cock of the nav and that tyre fix, he's always blaring on about being super experienced.

Start at the bottom of the Ranger. Climb up to the plateau and then turn left over into a Telegraph Valley and descend to Llanberis. Climb Llanberis path then descend via the Ranger all the way to the bottom.

im doing this tomorrow evening but descending via Rhydd Ddu path.

Obvious from 8 mins if you know the hill, or a map.

Going in a couple of weeks Think we'll be doing Llanberis>Rangers, either from Llanberis or bullandbladder's variation

It seems certainly an easier climb up now, pity it's been ruined as a descent. On the plus side, they've also surfaced the footpath up to the top of Telegraph.

First time on Rhydd Ddu last, took a bit longer to get down than expected. Rode a fair chunk of it but on the whole I thing the Ranger is the pick of the bunch. Cracking evening's ride though 👍
