I am riding up and down Snowdon next week as well as as sneaking in quick laps of Pemmachno and CYB.
Im torn between both bikes as to which one i should take.
If in doubt...let the forum decide????
What do you reckon??
Rize! stuff coming down that without full sus!
Cotic Soul FTW
Not done Snowdon but have the other 2, Soul all the way.
I've done those on a hardtail and full sus, crashed on the hardtail coming down Snowdon. But both are good fun!
bouncy bike for snowdon especially if you have the choice 😀
Little Bunny Girl has done Snowdon on her hard tail so I'd say MTFU and do it on the Soul.
Surely it's MTFU and lug the FS up the hill with a view to giving it some welly on the way down?
I agree nothing to do with manning up. I would have more fun on a full sus bike on the Snowdon trails...
I'd rather have a full suss for the ascent let alone the descent. Snowdon had snow on the top third last week which made riding a tad dodgy as you can't see the rocks, plus it was very slippery wet snow.
I'd go with the full sus for snowdon too. Doable on a HT but way more fun on a full sus, just means you aren't hanging on for grim death the whole way down.
Its 6 for the rize,3 for the soul and 1 for both.
Its looking like the suss gets the vote here then
Having done snowdon on both ide go for the soul, dont really find it a hang on for grim death quite on a ht, just better although a bit slower..
I did it with CrispedWheel (above) in December last year--I was on a Soul and he was on a P7. Great fun.
Go on. You know it makes sense.
All you people that have ridden down Snowdon, which route down did you take?
rangers path is the best if you like a bit of technical riding but isnt dead long, rhydd du didnt do it for me, llanberis path is good and long but quite 'samey' whereas rangers has a bit of variety.
ive ridden snowdon on 4" fs, 5"fs, 6"fs, 7"fs and 6"forked hardtail and never failed to enjoy it so just go on what you will have most fun on rocky stuff. id say tyre choice mattered as much as bike choice; go for something that sticks well to damp rocks and is quite tough, id definitely recommend a dual ply for the back if you really want to enjoy yourself. take some faster rolling ones for the trail centres though!
FS would be better coming down Snowdon, hardtail better going up when you have to carry it 🙂
+1 Brooess
Did the Llanberis path on a Stiffee a few years back and it was great fun, if a little hard on the back. I'd take the FS next time to be honest, but it's a top ride, whatever you're on. If you opt for that route, don't forget Pete's Eats when you're back down!
