How does the Rydd Dhu path compare to the Ranger path, was blown away by the latter.
Goes on for longer, some ace bits but not as fast and steep and a bit more filler than the rangers. As you can see from the map its more 'along and down' than the rangers 'straight down'. Its got a great extended rock garden that gave me a headache from concentrating for so long! I always choose rangers though...
Ta, what do you mean by a bit more filler (typo), more tech? any pics, vids of trail.
Filler = boring, not as good, uninteresting, less technical.
It's a longer route with gaps between the intense bits that aren't so exciting. At the time i was disappointed as i was hoping for a longer version of the rangers path which it isn't. Still a good trail though.
both are as good as each other. don't remember the filler part...
The rocky ridge section with the traverse looks proper good, was it portage.
The traverse is rideable, very exposed in places and a couple of guys I rode with carried purely for that reason rather than technical difficulty.
Xxx there are a few flat/uphill rocky bits that I found dull, some fairly smooth bits, as well as the bit further down on the slabs that was fairly boring. On the other hand you could easily say that the rangers path is over too quickly so it's horses for courses i guess. Id sooner go for the shorter, more intense ride myself but that doesn't make it any better for anyone but me.
How are you guys getting up snowdon in the first place?
We have done it up Llanberis and down Rangers, we then ascended up to Telegraph Valley and back to Pete's Eats in Llanberis.
Rangers is super techy but very enjoyable.
