Woops, I was trying to work out why the post wasn't working very smoothly.
Turns out it was because the post has fractured around the 1" drop hole.
Might be worth checking your posts, I don't remember landing on mine hard.
For your viewing pleasure...
Gravity dropper have got back to me very quickly with the following response:
"We will still cover this under warranty. We do now recommend customers with this issue use a standard drop with the Descender model. If you would like to keep using the multi drop option we would recommend upgrading your post with a cable assembly and install the post backward facing."
Impressed with the service, despite the issue with the post.
Response doen't fill me with confidence mind. Reads to me as "this will probably happen again unless you use the one without a hole drilled in it"
This is a pretty common problem and they did replace but I wouldn't use it again.
Well I use my other turbo backwards, and it's fine.
Was planning on converting this one to a turbo anyway at some point, now would seem to be a good time.

See your point honourablegeorge. However, there are no other seatposts that come in 27.2mm size that are even remotely as reliable. Even if I had a bigger diameter seatpost i don't think I would swap, given the issues that friends have had.
One of the best dropper posts out there! How many other companies give a lifetime warranty. I went with standard drop turbo for this reason and have had no problems and I weigh over 200lb. Works well, easy to fix with good warranty/customer support. Bad points being expensive, but they all are. Reverb has been good so far as well, but I guarantee it will need a service before the GD.
Well all sorted with gravity dropper now. They are sending out a replacement upper part for free and have sold me the remote kit for £34,which I was planning on getting anyway.
Top customer service.
Yep, with cable-forward/Descender and multi-drop, it's a big hole right in the middle of a stressed part, at least if you turn it back to front it's in compression.

Ouch.
Made me cross my legs...
Hi, is that snapped post solid, or a hollow tube? My old single-drop was hollow most of the way up, but I have just replaced it with a multi-drop which is solid most of the way up.
I guess the solid version is not liable to the same issue? Or would I be still recommended to turn it around?
One that has snapped is hollow to just below the first hole, then solid from there up. Sounds like it is the same as you have Dekerf853.
Sorry for the thread hijack, but can you convert a normal GD to a multi height one by simply drilling an extra hole and running the post back to front? I love my GD, but I would like a 3rd height setting as well as fully up or fully down.
Johnhe, I guess you could. It wouldn't be any different from a multi drop post (as long as the post is solid)
