Getting bikes ready for trip away on Wednesday and my mate’s Maxle light has snapped, leaving most of the spindle inside......anyone got any ideas how to get it out please 🙏
guess you stick a screwdriver in t'other end and unwind it- after spraying with wd40
Yeah, did give that a go, but it’s tight as.
Needle-file a hex in the end to take an allen key.

This is how I removed the one I broke. Was tougher than I thought it’d be to do and I swore a lot, but it came with persistence

Large half round file, file a notch in to give it some purchase and then force that home and turn it.
Dont forget to turn it to the right not left.... if its really stuck turn hard right and left a few times to tey and break the bond.
I borrowed a tap from a mate who works in an engineering workshop and threaded the inside of the snapped maxle tube - sorry it was three years ago so I don't remember much about it - then screwed a bolt in and used it to remove the broken shaft of the Maxle. Can't remember what size it was and my e-mail archive doesn't help, but it worked. Actually maybe I just screwed the tap in and used that to remove the tube I think. There was a tap involved anyway, it was the only way to get enough purchase on the snapped Maxle without risking damaging the fork lowers.
In future, bear in mind that you don't need to give a Maxle loads of wellie,.
Cheers guys: operating theatre opens in 1/2 hour 🤞🤞.....it’s not as if we can just lend him a ride, he’s only got one working arm (brachial nerve damage) so his bike is a adapted to suit.
What I actually did was to part thread the inside of the threaded end of the stuck maxle tube with a tap then inserted a suitable bolt so that tightening the bolt into the tube bottomed it out. At that point turning the bolt unscrewed the stuck Maxle. Good luck sorting it out!
What a nightmare...
Good luck!
Hope things work out for you!
