I made the mistake of cleaning my crossmax to put on my forthcoming chameleon build and whilst doing so thought to myself how good they have been during the 6 years I have used them.
I did snap one spoke though a few months ago which ended up costing £180 for a new rim and all new spokes as all if the spokes were seised and couldn't be removed
They are still on the original bearings and run as smooth as new despite being used for everyday commuting for 2 years including the rain and snow. They still run true and have never needed tensioning (forget the new rim for now) despite some dodgy landings and general abuse.

So imagine how gutted I was to spend about 1/2 an hour properly cleaning each wheel to finish and find that 4 of the 6 flanges that the disk bolts go through have snapped and the bolts had no tension.
They have never been over tightened (6nm) so I have no idea what has caused it. Looking at the design there isn't much material where it has split so I would put it down to bad design but the front is fine and I'm a lot heavier on the front brake than rear.

I had noticed over the last few rides that under hard braking the rear howled but I put this down to contamination or similar.

The most annoying part is that I have a limited budged for my chameleon build and I had treated myself to some unnecessary bits that I have wanted but could of used existing or spent less. Now I need a new rear wheel (preferably a pair) and no funds left due to a new baby. Anyone want to buy a kidney?

Oh well, worse things happen at sea.

Admittedly they have been used a lot but the front is fine. I would expect the front tabs to fail first seeing as the front bake gets a harder life.
