I managed to snap a bottlecage bolt inside my frame. What's the best way to get it out? Left-handed drill bit?
what a bugger. If nothing left proud to get grips on then surgery may be rqd. Sounds like seized in so carefull use of small pointy tool wont work nor degrease and use superglue dab with caution to attach something to work with. Reverse drill or normal could do it be very carefull make sure square and have tap handy to clean the thread after. Good luck.
Depending where you are in the country but Aurther Caygills in Richmond, North Yorks is the place to go.
They drilled it out for me and put a new thread in. Works perfectly and wasn't expensive.
I guess any frame builders firm could help.
Putting a new rivnut in isn't difficult, I replaced one in my Superfly last week. You need to make sure you can get the bits out though.
Try your lbs.
And when you get it sorted, get some anti seize on your bolts!. 😀
I'd recommend taping around the bottle cage to avoid inflicting any further damage when removing the bolt. Left handed drill bit and an easy out, and plenty of wd40/plus gas before hand.
