I bought a helmet off here. I am happy with the condition but it stinks really badly of smoke. I've given it a wash which hasn't really helped. Has anyone got any suggestions.?

Thanks
Rich

Washed the pads? The smoke's got into the plastic so it needs something to overpower that or it needs airing for o looooooong time

It's an ultra light jobby. pads are minimal, smell is in polystyrene. I not sure what can use on it without affecting strength. Febreze?

Send it back if not mentioned in the ad, that's rank...

Edit: although it was only £20. Hmmm.

Mine is about to go in a bucket of halo sports wash but that just smells of mud and sweat.

I don't clean my helmet often enough which gives me v-shaped burn marks on my forehead.

"Hey what are those marks on your forehead"?

"Oh, that's just my salty helmet" 8)

It is a bit rank. If it hadn't have been cheap I would have moaned about it.

Milton is essentially weak bleach is that ok on polystyrene?

On topic, my straps are quite stinky but aren't detachable..
Similar solution with Milton or washing power?
I can pull them thru to stick out one side so just do one side at a time maybe?

Bring it into the shower with you - give it a good scrub - especially the straps - works for me
