I want to get a smart trainer for the colder months.

I am looking at the Tacx Flux S and the Wahoo Kickr Core.

Would you recommend any of these trainers and are there others i should be looking at? (budget around £700)

At the moment probably whatever is actually available!

Either of those are good I think. I've a elite direto which I'm very happy with.

Your better off reading the dcrainmaker reviews.

Yep, availability is a real issue now. Stocks are returning I think, but it's still affecting price as trainers are still scarce so there's very little competition. So if you don't plan to ride until the winter, maybe wait?

There's no Elite model on your shortlist. How come?

And by later in the year there may be reliable info on other choices - maybe even dc rainmaker reviews of the Xplova Noza and that one which powers itself but used to be very unreliable but has now been redone (I can't remember the name). EDIT - Jetblack Whisper, there's a new version around now.

Thanks for the replies. Those on my list are available currently.

I will not use it until early October so i will probably wait a few months before deciding.

we have a kickr core which has been excellent but have nothing to compare it too as it's our first trainer

I have an Elite Zumo (so neither of those) and it's great. I picked it up from Halfords for £385.
Maybe it's not as quick to change the resistance in ERG mode but that only makes a difference to very short duration bursts in training plans on zwift.

Having seen how both tacx(Garmin) and wahoo process warranty

Wahoo all day long.

Wahoo have collected all 3 I know of that have broken postage paid and delivered new ones within the week even during peak pandemic when there was no stock to be had to purchase.

My mate even got a full fat kickr upgrade to his core the bam.

Meanwhile tacx owner had to pay and arrange his own postage , had to wait a month for stock to come in. He did how ever get the upgraded flux which was a bonus....but that was entirely because the original flux was flawed.

All the ones in our club that have seen heavy use have failed at some point except the guys who have bought wattbikes. They seem pretty robust. But elite/wahoo/tacx/saris. All have been back for one reason or another.
