Heard flexible hoses help prevent damage to the tubes (80 mm presta in my case), and a pressure gauge would be handy too.

Any small portable pumps that have both without breaking the bank?

I would have thought that deep rims did a good job of avoiding strain on the valve?

I was a serial valve-ripper-offer until going tubeless. That and learning to pump holding the pump in both hands and the wheel free to flap around rather than trying to push the pump against the floor or hold the wheel in my hand.

You don't need a gauge, just pump until they're rock hard and they'll get you home.

CO2 is obviously smaller and therefore more aero.

I've got a topeak pocket rocket (infact I've got 2) which fulfills none of your tick list, but does work for me. Pump lives under the bottle cage, and I keep a CO2 in the saddle pack or pocket. The pump's only there for that once a decade ride where I get >1 puncture and solo so can't borrow a pump.

A colleague has the Lezyne one with a hose, it does work, but unscrews valve cores. Like most Lezyne stuff, it therefore kinda works but is fundamentally flawed and rubbish.

This is for long day trips, nice to have a gauge?

But perhaps more important with the flex hose?

If you can feel the difference between 80 and 90psi then you don't need a gauge because you can feel it.
