mrsoath has a pretty heavy framed bike. So it kinda puts her off coming out. Can anyone recommend a light 26. Straight steerered frame for someone who's around 5'8"?

Many thanks!

Not wanting to pee on your chips but 'heavy frame' probably isn't the reason th bike is heavy.
The lightest carbon frames are around a kilo, a quite heavy steel frame is two and a bit kilo so at best you're going to save a kilo (~2lbs) by swapping the frame, chances are it will be less as I assume you're not looking at 1kg carbon frames?

If you really want to drop some weight off he bike, and especially make it feel lighter then look at the tyres and wheels, and then fork ( you can save as much here as you will on a frame if replacing cheapo heavy forks), and then to some degree finishing kit.

You'll save more weight quicker, and some nice light tyres and wheels will have a bigger effect on the feel than losing 500g-700g in a frame.

Could be a dull frame that makes the bike feel heavy to ride though.

Quite like the OHs 15" specialised rockhopper in a "big bmx" type way as it feels very light agile, even when built up with some Tora forks and bog standard rims (now has my old dual air Revs @100mm and 717 wheels).
