My wife is looking for a new frame. She currently has a small Juliana Joplin (29) but has never really loved it. After 3 years of it, she'd like to go back to a hardtail (previously had a Cotic Soul 26). She likes the look of skinny steel frames (point against the juliana!) and while she'll ride a black route, isn't looking to ride the most technical trails as much as having long fun days in the hills.
So, any options out there for a 5'3" rider? She's thinking of a straight swap to a 29 frame (though I think the big wheels might be partly why she doesn't enjoy the Juliana so much). But most frame options I've seen start at mediums, or riders about 5'6" and up. Are there any 27.5 options that might fit better?
To be fair, if there are any full bikes that meet the brief, she'd consider them too.
not steel I know, but SC Chameleon in small? but they look skinnier that some other alloy frames?
Pipedream have Sirius S5's in longish, which seems to have 5'3" as a spot on size.
29 or 27.5.
Steel n skinny too...
Bird Aether 7. We did a demo at Swinley and my other half ended up on the medium, it's the first time we found a FS that was too small for her.
Some excellent deals on Ragley frames at CRC at the moment - I bought a Blue Pig frame for £320.
There's 29 and 27.5 options - Big Wig, Blue Pig, Piglet, etc.
Think they come in small too.
Bird Aether 7? My other half ended up with a medium after a day at Swinley trying all their small FS. The small Aether was the first time we found a 'proper' bike that was too big for her.
Nukeproof Scout 275 frame comes in small and is cheap on CRC right now
Blatantly plugging 😉
I’ve a small on one whippet in the classifieds
