Mrs Nobeer, whilst loving her wee Decathlon MTB (tis a bloody gem of a bike for 360 quid!) it's still a MTB, and she does pretty much all her miles, about 40 a week, on tarmac cyclepaths.

She's like something faster, XS in size as she's 5'2", and around the 500 quid mark, will mibbe go a wee bit higher if it can go through the NHS cyclescheme. Needs to be flat barred as she like the stability and she'd never use the drops anyway.

Any thoughts? have seen the spesh sirrus at 525 that looks a good starting point.

I have a Trek 7.3 FX. It’s a hybrid technically but it goes like stink! It has been replaced by a newer model but it was about £500.

Aye, whatever angeldust.

She's used to discs now tbh Tony/Flashy, and Liv discs are a bit dearer...

My wife is 4’11” and if I tried to take away her Specialized Vita I would be dead in seconds. Brilliant bike, all the contact points were perfect for her and I’ve not had to change anything. I paid full price for it and would again no problem.

My wife has a Pinnacle Neon 1 from Evans, was cheap as chips (<£300 in the sale) and really light as it is only a single ring up front, fantastic bike for the money. I think the top of the range one has discs.
