Can someone recommend a small, ideally about 2 ltr and less than 30cm length bar bag thats quite neat, weather resistant and doesn’t flap? I’ve finally decided that I’m at the age where being warm is more important than ‘the rulez’ and want to be able to take a small down/synthetic jacket with me on the road bike in winter to stay warm at stops, as well as a waterproof etc and not have over flowing and over stretched pockets.

I only run 40cm bars on the road bike, so most of the usual suspects would take up the whole front end. The Alpkit Top loader looks good but ideally would want something half the size.

Asking here to avoid being chased out of road forums with a Silca frame pump!

Cheers

Alpkit Gnaro https://alpkit.com/collections/bikepacking/products/gnaro - it's what it's designed for. Slightly bigger than you asked at 3L but it's a dual ended roll-top bag so can crunch up "a bit".

@bjhedley

I've a small Ortlieb one that I no longer use if you are interested. I'm struggling to find a link, so I assume it is NLA. Probably about 2-3 litres?

No suitable for carbon bars though.

There was a similar thread a few days ago with several suggestions. I think the OP liked wizard works in the end but stand to be corrected.

I made one from a Planet X dry bag and a Klickfix adapter plate and bracket. Works great, easily accessible, doesn’t interfere with hand positions, rolls to size (pic shows it at the large end of the range). Cost £30 all in, I think.

The Alpkit Gnaro is good, but the straps/fixings are crap - they'll continually work loose. I resorted to zip-ties.

Not on-trend, but the Jandd Bike Bag is nice. Had one for years and recently resurrected it. Can fit a fair bit in it and it doesn't move.

I use the carradice roll bag (well two of them, one on my commuter and now one on my cx bike) it’s under 30cm, 3 litre capacity and so far has been weather proof. It is made of the same material as their saddle bags which are renowned for resilience so I don’t foresee issues The foam spacers are useful too.
Made in UK if that appeals.

Cheers all, some good suggestions to check out. Sorry - I hadn't seen the previous thread. Quite like the the Carradice stuff, and the wizard works from the other thread, slightly more aesthetically pleasing that the dry bag styles.

Partly true. If you thread the strap back through the slider again then they stay put. So with the free end of the slider towards you: strap up through the furthest slot; down through the nearest; round the free end; down through the furthest. Sorted!
