I'm thinking of buying my 13yo son a Voodoo Bazingo. He would need the small (16") frame and I wonder whether it would be a bit unwieldy. Would I be better going for a different 27.5 bike?
Only one way to find out!
PS it'd help if you said how tall he is.
`He's about 5'6" which fits the bike according to the sizing guide. My question is more about whether small 29ers "work" versus a 27.5.
I'd be interested in this as well. I fit small bikes and some have 29 inch wheels. Wonder what the standover is like.
I'm 5'7" and ride a 17.5" Trek 29er. Bike rides fine.
Our eldest daughter is 5' 6" and rides a medium 29er Stumpjumper and Turbo Levo fitted with 29er wheels. Plenty of stand over
Can you not get him a demo on one
She also had 2 titanium rods running the length of her back so finds it difficult to bend
I have a Voodoo Bizango (previous version with double chainring, size 20") and it's a great bike. I have zero complaints about it. The only unwieldy thing about it is getting it up and down the two flights of tight stairs to my flat! Go down to Halfords/Cycle Republic and get him to try it for size.
5'6" ride a medium canyon grand canyon, not much stand over but fine.
Also a medium pace rc529 loads of room but they've dropped the bottom bracket and it's got a short seat tube with a 170mm reverb, only issue is at full extension it's about 5mm too tall.
Mrsbeanz is 5'2" and has a small salsas el mariachi 29er.
5'7" here on a good day, I ride a 2015 29er Enduro medium and think the cockpit is a bit short. Â Mrs M is 5'6" and rides a M Levo (definitely wouldn't want a small) and my Curtis AM9 is a small but is longer than my Enduro and about the same as my 17.5 Superfly though the Curtis has much better standover.
