I was given and shimano slx triple chainset for christmas, but have since sold the bike it was going on. I'am now wondering if its at all possible to use the cranks for a 1x9 set up with running an LG1+ chain guide.
but from looking at it, it would appear that the bolt holes for the granny ring will be touching the mount plate for the chain guide.
Am I fighting a loosing battle with this idea or just being a muppet?

It's fine, you just need to space things correctly so that the top guide doesn't foul the spider, and the granny mounts don't foul the back plate... I've set my LG1 up just such on my saint cranks, SLX will be no different...
