Please forgive my lack of drivetrain knowledge, but I am trying to convert to singlespeed MTBing. I have a new SLX triple chainset that I am planning on converting to use on a single speed build. I understand that the main things I need are an appropriate chainring and suitable bolts. Can anyone recommend some bolts or appropriate chainring? I am thinking of starting off with a "friendly" chainring, something like a 32/34.

I went with an un-ramped 36t hope chainring rather than the stock ring.
+1 for the link above regarding short bolts

Cheers guys, thanks for the help.
Why not drop onto the thread with the guy replacing a LX chainset & sell him your cast off rings.
Kore 36T unramped rings at CRC recently for £6.99 😀

I would...but I got the chainset off my cousin who only got it because he wanted the chain rings 🙂
