Hey, I've seen a few posts where people have informed to get the triple over a double to allow for the single ring to be in the correct position.

Does this occur across all of the NW rings (SSC, OnOne, RF, WC, 1up etc.)?

I got the double SLX for my Raceface NW ring. Much better chainline on my MK2 Soul. On a tripple I had about 0.5mm between the teeth and the chainstay. Now I have 3mm

I'd like to take that as being the same for my BFe then 🙂

I ran a single ring on an XT double and the chainline was pants, now running one on an XT triple and it's bob on

Word of warning - SLX double has chain rubbing issues with NW rings below 34t

Just put a superstar 32NW on a slx triple with a washer between the crank and ring due to too-long bolts.
Alignment is good, but when I do get around to getting shorter bolts and ditching the washers, I'll have to adjust the BB spacers to maintain alignment.

Triple give better chainline - Double pushes it too far out but can be corrected by switching BB spacers round. Either 'work' though, triple just works better.

Mk3 Soul, 34t Superstar NW ring, SLX triple. No clearance issues and chainline is perfect.

I'd say get a triple unless you have clearance issues with your frame, which is highly unlikely unless you're running 36t or bigger.

Double with rfnw. Had to use a washer as the 32t doesn't fit otherwise. Chain rubs on spider.

other than that the chain line seems good.

I have a single 32t on my Inbred with an SLX double and the chainline isn't great but works fine.

Planning to install a 32t hope retainer on my old SLX M665 double tonight, am I going to have issues?

Not sure about the m665 double...but the m675 double needs to have the bolt tabs filed down if using rings of 32t and below as the chain rubs over them (unless you use spacers with the bolts to move the ring further away from the tabs, giving the chain more room)

Thanks Mather. I think the M665 has the same cranks/spider as the old SLX triple but I'm not 100% sure. Shouldve manned up and bought the 34t!
