got a problem with the seatpost on my surly tourer slipping.
built it up using a thomson inline post, and it was fine...but i needed a bit of layback, so fitted a cheap kalloy layback post, and it is now slipping, no matter how much i wrench it up.
measured the post, it is 27.2 as is the seat tube inner. got the right surly seat coller on the bike, which is 30.0.
i have ordered a surly constrictor coller to replace the silver one.

should i go back to a thomson post.
any other ideas, apart from a slither of coke can.

Carbon assembly paste might help.

Get one of those seat binders that clamps on the seat post and the frame.

A little bit of carbon assembly paste cured a slippy post problem I've had before

Carbon paste seems to have worked for me.
Failing that, every slipping post I've had in the past has been cured by using a Salsa lip-lock seat collar

Carbon paste here too. Nice not having to do the seatclamp up stupidly tight.

A new clamp is worth a try too, as the regular Surly ones have never worked very well for me.

thomson layback was the only cure I found for this problem
The small grooves milled into the post seems to help it grip

I use a mix of brick dust and grease. Both can be found in the shed. Works much the same as "carbon assembly paste" and it doesn't make me sound like a poncy ****tish cyclist

Swapping grease for copperslip/ other thread guard type material worked for me. Another trick I use is to emery the shiny black paint off a new post 😆

Try greasing the thread of the seatpost binder bolt.
