I have 2 inbreds, 26" old steel ones, both fitted the the same brand x dropper posts, one has a hope seat clamp, the other a superstars components one. Both tightened to 5nm, one works fine the other wont extend fully its about 2" short. If I loosen the clamp a little to where it works properly the post slowly slips down the seat tube when riding.

I have greased it and tried gripper paste but that made no difference. I see if I can get a beer can shim in there to see if that makes a difference.

Any ideas?

Tin foil is probably better odds than a beer can of its that close. Likely only needs a wrap or two.

Any ideas?

It's most likely the seat tube not the post or clamps.

I managed to get a shim installed as the post was a little loose in the seat tube but to no avail.

Any ideas how to proceed?

What about one of those double clamps. Might help spread the load
