I have a bike that needs the slim lockrings, without the shoulder.

When i look online im finding it hard to tell whether its a thick or thin one. Can anyone help with a link or part number?

Thanks
Ian

Ah no. I need the ines with the external notching for use with a bb tool. The axle is 12mm so needs the external type.

12mm axle should be fine with the internal type. My various road bikes with discs have this configuration. 15mm doesn't fit, though, and would require the external type.

Just double check, the fulcrum ones are flatter, without a shoulder because the threads are on the outside on the hub. Everyone else has them on the inside. AFAIK they're the only ones that do that, but you don't say what hubs you have.

I had this issue, when building my road bike - exacerbated by the small clearance between locking and brake mount holes in the fork leg.

Needed a slimmer lock ring than the one that came with the rotor, and was shocked to find out how expensive they were.
Then I found that you get one of those rings with this adapter, for less money.
Centerlock adapter

If you look closely at the ring that comes with the adapter, you can see that it has a completely flat face, unlike the SM-HB20 ring

Not sure why Shimano don't just ship the thinner lock ring with the rotors.

Think it depends on the rotors, TBH. Both my Ultegra and D-A ones came with thin, internal lockrings and I see pictures of some MTB ones with both types. My guess is that smaller rotor sizes (e.g. 140mm) will come with the internal style for use on the rear where a smaller axle is likely, and the larger MTB ones with the external style to accommodate 15mm axles, but it's hard to be 100% sure.

I was referring to the fact the the external type come in thick and thin versions - just shipping the thin ones would avoid the issues faced with the thicker ones

On the subject of lockrings, does anyone know if the standard Shimano ones that they supply with their rotors are compatible with DT Swiss 350 (centrelock, 12mm TA) hubs?

I've realised the ones from my current Fulcrum wheels aren't going to work as they seem to be a different type as mentioned above.

Wondering if DT Swiss have their own standard or whether the normal Shimano ones will fit.

Yes, 100% compatible. I’ve got them running on both 350 hubs and Roval CLX hubs with both Shimano and SRAM Centreline CLX rotors.
