So, I've been offered one of the Stumpjumper Evo Pros at a very attractive price.
Does anyone have any experience on one?
I've read the review of the ally version on Pinkbike and also the 27.5 version on here.
General consensus seems to be that i'll be smashing my pedals into everything!
I'd be on the S3 size, i'm 6ft 2.
Im about 6ft and have a 29er S3. I've recently changed it into the 'high' setting as I got sick of clipping pedals. I was also running 175 cranks. High raises the BB about 6mm and I've now got 170 cranks and it's great. Pedals way better and hasn't lost any descending capability.
An hair under 6'1 here. Used to have a L Bird AM9, now own a S3 alloy Comp Evo since May or so.
Amazing bike, does everything quite well. WC grade DH track that kicks you in the teeth? Check. All day enduro style riding? Check. Messing around on more mellow trails? Flattens them a bit, but check. Bikepacking trip? Check.
Mine has the shock spacer removed, so has 155mm rear travel, never tried it on the stock travel so can't comment on that
Also, it really benefits from extending front travel to 160mm (Specialized approves this). It puts the BB at a perfect height on the high position, it climbs so much better this way.
I've got one and can't recommend it enough. At 42, I'm beating PBs up and down on tracks I've ridden for years.
Mines a 27.5 S3 that's been mullet converted, upped to 160mm at the front and long shocked at the rear to achieve 163mm. BB height is now a much more realistic but still low 342mm.
