Is Murdoch a biker?

Just wondering why the otherwise £ grabbing toad is putting so much into the sport with sponsorship of the cycling team, team GB and the Sky Ride events, the later being free to enter and must cost far more to run than they generate in revenue.

Cycling is environmentally freindly,

is quite cheap,

is relatively free compared to car ownership,

gets you plenty of media coverage,

Just be grateful the nice SKY people are putting money into what used to be a minority activity, but is now seen as good for the environmenet and the health of the nation.

It's just advertising innit?

The Sky Ride events give them a hell of a lot of advertising and probably some political bonus points.

The track/road sponsorship is very smart indeed. The Tour de France is free to air throughout Europe and has a massive TV audience. And just think when the olympics are on and Team GB win shed loads of medals with Sky emblazened on their skinsuits.
