Bought a pair of these with 'Elastic Interface Triathlon Chamois', reviews were glowing...

And when I tried them on not bad fit, bit clingy but I think they are meant to be..compression fit etc etc, but when I sat down the chamois pad was well forward of sit bones, very strange, couple of inches forward at least, bum is sitting behind the pad! so I compared with a pair I have and........

Does this look right?
Think about the riding position on a tri bike. You're leaning so far forward that your sit bones aren't pressing down on the saddle the same way. Also, the pad in a tri suit/tri shorts is smaller and thinner than bike shorts as you'll be wearing them under a wetsuit and then running in them after the bike leg.
The blue one has a cock drawn on it?
I'm not sure that helps though.
Ah, ok, what idiot designed triathlon bikes differently? it's completely ruined my shopping experience, thanks though I now have a present for a friend that does bicycle swimming or whatever it is.
''The blue one has a cock drawn on it?''
I didn't notice that before! mine fits in the little groove at the front though.

I bet your friend will love putting them on knowing that

Ha, I'm keeping those ones, although I'm struggling slightly with the phallic image now.

The one where speed is the most important factor over bimbling along to a cafe for a slab of Victoria sandwich and a coffee.
Also tri bikes don't follow uci rules. They are more aero and have steeper seat angles
Although I don't think that fully explains your shorts...

I'm sorry if my bimbling is less important, I will thrash myself with jaggy sticks and remind myself whenever I think of bimbling out for a coffee, that speed in whatever it is they do is much more important in my shorts choice.

I think they must have shortened perineums, with their sit bones 1 inch behind their balls, and their bums are 4 inches wide, this makes them more aerodynamic.
As well as the different bike position, tri shorts also don't have a chamois the size of a sofa cushion in because it makes running and cycling rather awkward...

No need for that OP. Just wrap yourself in rubber then jump in cold water first. Afterwards don't forget to go for a wee jog 😉

Well don't buy shorts aimed at triathletes then.
Its like buying a full face downhill helmet and complaing it's a tad warm for your commute along the canal path.

That is a very good point, I bought them on ebay with a very poor description after reading a glowing review by someone that said they were great for cycling, I'm wiser now.
They look great on, perhaps I can hand stitch an Ikea cushion in.
Forgot to ask, they are compression tights, the entire grey bit is grippy and tight, to the point of grippy tightness, not the most pleasant sensation, this apparently gives me a performance boost when I'm racing to the cake shop, is there anything in this? like would I see some sort of benefit over 40 miles for example(all canal paths interspersed with cake shops)
It's worth remembering they are "cycling shorts" that the user has to run in as well.
So it's not just that they expect a triathlete to support all of their weight on their biff, they expect the triathlete to jog 5-10k in these shorts, ideally without too much chaffing, a full sized pad would not help your inner thighs...
Edit: the compression thing is also more for running too innit...
