I'm currently riding a On One Scandal 29er with Reba fork and fancy a steel frame.
Other than the rather stiff ride the head tube of the Scandel is very short, why do bike firms make a XL 29er with tiny head tubes?(105mm)
I can under stand on smaller sizes but someone buying a 21 inch 29er must be pretty big!
I've currently got a massive stack of spacers and risers to get a decent bar height, I've still got a large drop to the bar compared to the saddle.
Any one help me decide?
I'm 6"4 with long legs and arms, saddle height of 34 1/2 inches!
I've had 26 & 29 inbreds and loved my Cotic Soul (XL), don't want to wait for the Cotic Solaris

never ridden the salsa, but my swift is excellent, cotic will run 120mm forks though, the swift feels odd with them, i tried it

+1

Same height as you and really like my Swift.

And agree about 120 forks, one ride with Reba teams at 120 as that's what they were out of the box. 100mm seems spot on.

How's the tyre clearance on the Swift?
What the biggest tyre that fits it, how's the clearance on the front mech, if anyone is running gears?
I'm planning a build withe the reba at 100mm, gears for the summer, s/s for the gloop.
How's the b/b working, never had a eccentric before

Sam from Singular recommended 100mm on the swift as the optimum fork, I am yet to try a suspension fork on my large Swift apart from Reba's what other 29er forks have folk tried and like? manitou towers??

Running a crossmark on the back, 2.2? Plenty of space around that, 10 - 15mm between tyre and stays. Never thought about clearance around the mech so must be ok. Not looked at the EBB, been almost a year now so probably should 😳

In the intrest of balance and since these havn't been round too long to get a loyal following, here is the salsa.

Excellent ride, easily as good as the swift(had one too)if not more versitile and much prefer the cable route, ss solution and looks. Of course each to their own and I'm sure some people will hate and hate my shaggy beard.

I'm 6'1" and this is a 20".

The best set up:

I will prob be selling my XL Swift in the very near future if anyone's interested.

It's been used 4 times & is in mint condition.

Let me know if anyone's interested?

I wish my swift had a shorter head tube... I had to fit a low stack headset, flat bar and negative rise stem to avoid bar in the sky syndrome

each to his own.

I am very happy with my swift though.

clubber, I'm with you, high bars on bikes simply doesn't work for me. all my bikes (even 26ers) run a negative stem. Goes round corners better that way!

The salsa looks right. The swift isn't my cup of tea. All just my opinion of course and based on looks, the Swift looks too high at the front

Looking on the bike porn thread reminded me that the Pace 29er is out now! They had a few left from their first batch last time I asked (although the ltd cream was long gone).

Not too pricy either, between a salsa/swift and the niner SIR.
